Kia ora Mosen at Largers. Our amazing community has put together another informative, thought-provoking listen for you, and it’ll be in your podcast app this weekend. Here’s a sneak peak of what you can expect. And if you get in touch now, you’re in time to comment on these or any other issues that are on your mind.
A long time ago, 61 years ago to be precise, after years of mounting conflict, a group of people left the NFB convention, crossed the street, and founded the American Council of the Blind. Often, both organisations hold their conventions at the same time, and belonging to both organisations is something many frown upon. But with the passing of time, there is an increasing number of people who believe that the problems facing blind Americans are too important to have resources and talent divided between two organisations. Others maintain that choice is a good thing and there are still some critical philosophical differences. Where do you stand. Is it time for NFB and ACB to reunite, and what would that look like? Would a first confidence-building step be to hold a joint convention as NFB President Mark Riccobono has proposed?
Last week, I mentioned the book I was reading which was being widely talked about in the tech press, “After Steve” by Tripp Mickle. I’ll share my thoughts on the book and we hear some listener comment. If you’ve read the book, please let me know what you think.
We have more listeners sharing there experience of what it was like to be a blind person called up for jury duty.
Some of us want to get fit, do our exercises, and generally be highly virtuous. But getting good quality descriptions of exercises holds us back. A new app aims to help. I speak with Tyler Merren about his new app, ReVision Fitness. Have you already tried it? How’s it working out for you? Send me your thoughts.
There’s plenty more on the show as well. If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. What makes Mosen At Large special is the global community we’ve built and all the perspectives we share with each other.
