Kia ora Mosen at Largers. Our amazing community has put together another informative, thought-provoking listen for you, and it’ll be in your podcast app this weekend. Here’s a sneak peak of what you can expect. You’re welcome to comment on these or any other issues on your mind.
Ultrasonic blindness-specific products have been around for decades. As I’ll explain on the show this weekend, I first used one around 44 years ago. They continue to be an area of exploration. Having been using the WeWalk smart cane since December, I’ll offer you my review and explain why it is a product I stopped using after a short time.
I’ll also speak with the developer of a product I have yet to use, the Biped. As Mike May and Gena Harper told us in episode 164, Biped was being displayed for the first time at the Consumer Electronic show. It uses a combination of ultrasonic and camera technology to present you with plenty of information about your environment.
In an unusual move, Apple actually mentioned the resolution of a Braille bug in their release notes. In an even more unusual move, that resolution came in a double-dot release. But some serious Braille bugs persist, and users continue to contact the show with stories of how the bugs are impacting them.
Last week, I made the mistake of recommending the food delivery service Menulog, which is available at least in Australia and New Zealand. Since uttering those fateful words, I have had one of the most horrible support experiences in a while. If nothing else, at least it has given me something to talk about this week. But it seemed appropriate to explore this given Scott’s recent contribution on companies with whom it is next to impossible to engage when something goes wrong.
There’s plenty more on the show as well. If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. What makes Mosen At Large special is the global community we’ve built and all the perspectives we share with each other.
